Brinkman Adventures Season 4 -a review
Audio adventures are always enjoyed by our family. Back in 2014 we had a chance to review the Brinkman Adventures Season 2 and had mixed thoughts on it. We lately have been reviewing the Brinkman Adventures Season 4. Join me in discovering if our thoughts on these Christian audiodramas changed!

About Brinkman Adventures

Brinkman Adventures is an audiodrama series that follows a family of missionaries on their journey's around the world. The family homeschool their many children (8+!) and the oldest daughters blog about their escapades. All of their journeys and many of the people they meet are based on real life experiences by
Christian missionaries and modern day heroes. The Brinkman family is even based on a real family who do the voices of all the children. Throughout their adventures, the family learns more about how God loves them and how He can use them preach the gospel!

Brinkman Adventures Season 4 takes the listeners from Cambodia to Russia, Congo to the Middle East. There is over five hours of exciting audio-drama in the latest offering from the award-winning series.  The stories are inspired by the lives of Dr. Nik Ripken, Carl Ralston and others, making this volume something to be cherished and listened to for years to come.

Here is the list of stories, as well as their theme and the location they take place.
Brinkman Adventures Season 4 is available as a physical CD ($31.99) as well as a downloadable link ($25.99).

Our Thoughts on Brinkman Adventures

We have been listening to the downloadable links on my laptop for the last few weeks. Because we had reviewed season 2, we were familiar with the family history and it was fun to be returning to their crazy life. I love that they are homeschooled and such a large family. I have many friends with families the same size (8+) and the way the family is portrayed is very similar to real life for my friends. LOL.

Most of these episodes were interconnected, so it would definitely be best to listen to them from track 1 through 12 without skipping around, although they aren't all really connected (though there are few part 1/2). Each of the stories is about 25 minutes long and is done very similar to radio theater. Some of the stories are done as if they are being told to the Brinkman family (ex. Remebering Nhu and Aisha's Fear)--and sometimes the Brinkman family is experiencing it themselves (ex. Paradise Lost, War of the Raccoons). Every story has a generic Christian theme and there are scriptures, hymns, and inspirational messages shared throughout. Because the stories take place in other countries besides the US, your child can get a tiny glimpse into other cultures which may open up rabbit trails for discussion.

The boys' favorite story was easily War of the Raccoons--but they generally best liked the stories that were focused on the Brinkman family themselves. I appreciated Aisha's Fear because of its message of standing up for your faith without fear of what may happen to you. The story had lessons for all Christians--how far are you willing to go to stand firm for God? Even willing to stand in a pitch-black damp cellar for hours on end, unsure when or if you will be released?

The stories are filled with humor and sometimes even intense drama making them great entertainment. If a story may be more intense, there is a warning before it starts which is nice to have if you have younger children listening. My boys never found anything too intense.

Truly the only con of the product is that our religious beliefs didn't always match the doctrines that Brinkman Adventures include in their stories. So we spent a time just discussing what we believed and how it was either the same or different...so really I wouldn't truly consider it a "con" in that it makes us talk about our faith. LOL But it sometimes got annoying to hear things we didn't believe in when they were said all the time. But in the grand scheme of things, it's a relatively small con!

So did they enjoy it more this time? Yes, I think they did enjoy this season more than the last one we listened to a few years ago. Will we buy more? No, I don't think so. They are nice to listen to, but not something I would necessarily purchase for myself.
